ABOUT US

Santos de Solis artworks was named to honor Ron Riddel's maternal ancestors.  The Solis family was among the 12 original land grants from the King of Spain to 'New Spain' , one of  the titles Texas wore before becoming its own country and in 1845, the 28th state of the United States. Each Santos de Solis work is branded with the same 5 leaf  clover design used to identify Solis cattle over 100 years ago. The first wall hanging and free standing pieces were inspired by the folk art of his mother's Santos Wall. Today Ron's work also  includes, reliquaries, Honorariums and 'one of a kind' jewelry.

The supporting staff at his "behind the house "workshop includes: The Artist, CEO, Production & Shipping Officer: Ron Solis Riddel, The Marketing Director, Travel Advisor and Party Planner: Sylvia Houston, and Behind the Scenes Contributor and finalist for both the Most Loving Cat and Most Spoiled Cat award: Saint Pius in Kitten Ears, better know as Spike.

Artist, CEO, Production and Shipping Officer

Having taught Silversmithing at St. Edwards University in his college days, Ron kept his work bench (mostly dormant) while he got on to the business of 'real life'. Then a found object awakened the sleeping artist and the shop behind the house came to life. Life's important moments inspired visions in wood and stone created by Ron's hand and spirit to make art from the Heart of Texas.

Marketing Director, Travel Advisor and Party Planner Sales and Merchandising art, antiques and jewelry for more than 15 years, the fun of displaying of beautifully wrought pieces and telling  their stories is her passion.

To safely package  beautifully crafted artworks each with its own story, is a delight worth celebrating.

The sad new is we lost Sylvia two years ago.

Spike of the White Fur has never walked the short path from his cottage home to the workshop of his artist friend. Yet, mysteriously, a bit of Spike follows his artist wherever Ron goes.

The fur of Spike travels beyond Spike's being onto everyone he loves and if you look very closely you may find a tiny token of that furry love on every piece of art from the Heart of Texas (and Spike).
